Tunkhannock Christmas 2025

Tunkhannock area residents and visitors welcome the holidays with Christmas in Our Hometown, Friday and Saturday, December 12th and 13th. The Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association is organizing the event with the support of Gannon Associates Insurance in partnership with Donegal Insurance Group as presenting sponsors. A big part of the holiday celebration is the long tradition of decorating the over 60 street lamps throughout the historic district. This year, the posts are decorated with fresh green wreaths, big red bows and thousands of white lights. TBPA partners with Ebb’s Creative Landscaping to make this tradition possible. Area residents and businesses can see their names on a lamp tag by adopting the lamp of their choice. Adoption forms are available at Greenwood’s Furniture.

The traditional holiday events kick off with a Santa Parade down Tioga Street, lead by Santa and Mrs. Claus at 4:30pm. The event will be broadcast live on Eyewitness News WBRE. Several community groups including the Tunkhannock Area High School Marching Band lead by Ken Luckey and the High School Chorus lead by Tara Kasperowski, are participating. The Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the parade. The tree lighting will be held at Peoples Security Bank. Chippy White Table has created a magical display at the First National Bank Gazebo for family photos.

Marcho, Sheldon, Kukuchka Funeral Home is providing the wagon for both days of the event. Bartron Supply is providing the tractor to pull the wagon. The wagon ride will load near Welch Insurance and Greenwood’s furniture. Additionally, many area churches, businesses and civic groups will be set up along historic Tioga Street to distribute free treats such as hot cocoa, roasted nuts, cider, cookies and candy. Enjoy small business shopping with area vendors and the town’s iconic shops.

The Dietrich Theater presents a great variety of activities during the Christmas in Our Hometown event including their famous Cookie Walk Friday, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, from 11 a.m. until cookies are sold out. Funnel cakes and Fried Oreos will also be sold outside on Friday evening.
The Dietrich Theater welcomes the return of Dancers from the Stage Door Dance Studio with one performance, Friday 5:30 – 6:30 on stage at the theater during the cookie walk.
Additionally, the theater will offer 12 Movies of Christmas, through December 18th with free admission. Seating is first come, first served. The Dietrich Theater and local businesses and organizations are happy to host the showing of 12 Holiday movie favorites for free at various showtimes for 14 days. The United Methodist Church, 4 Church St., is hosting “Parade of Trees” Friday, 5:30 – 8pm with a Themed tree decorating contest, soup sale, free cookies, hot chocolate and kids’ crafts.

Once again, the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau is organizing a decorating contest for area residents and businesses. The Metcalf Mansion is hosting a Christmas Open House and Self-Guided Tours, along with the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Tunkhannock, with a Free Living Nativity behind The Metcalf Mansion on Friday from 5-8PM and Saturday from 5-7PM.

Father Nallin Hall, behind Nativity BVM Church, Tioga St is hosting a Christmas Marketplace. Friday 5-9 and Saturday 10-4. The market offers over 25 vendors, including handmade gift items, raffles, zentangle demonstrations and homemade soups. Nativity BVM church is selling frozen pierogies by the dozen.
Also Friday evening, check out Mercantile 22 where they are giving a free gift with each purchase, The Lotus, at 13 Tioga St, offers personal crystal gift boxes themed for enhancing life. The Draught and Barrel is hosting hot dip with soft pretzels and 2 different beers outside, while inside the regular food and bar menu is available.
Check out these locations on Friday evening and Saturday, Nimble Hill Winery & Brewery, 3971 US – 6 “Cheers to the Holidays” Enjoy some Mulled wine and the newly released Merlot. The talents of nine emerging artists from Wyoming County will be spotlighted during “Celebrating Young Artists: A Fresh Perspective”.
Hilltop Farm Market, 5577 US-6, “Christmas on The Farm”, Free Hot Chocolate Bar. Check the fresh selection of Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths. Pre-order holiday food items including pies.

The Dietrich Theater activities continue Saturday with the cookie walk and a Holiday Workshop, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For all ages, admission is free and it is sponsored by Ron and Abby Kukuchka and family. A morning of cookie decorating, holiday crafts, singing and creations by the balloon lady. Again, this year – Letters to Santa- courtesy of the Tunkhannock Business & Professional Women’s Club and HANDS of Wyoming County.
One of Tunkhannock’s newest shops, The Little Book Place, on Bridge St. is hosting book readings for kids Saturday at 1pm.

Saturday morning at 11am is Vendor Village in the First National Bank parking lot behind the gazebo. The area offers area vendors with baked goods, dog treats, crafts kids toys and more. Ewe Belong Here Yarn Company is offering “Crochet a Christmas Ornament” from 11am to 4pm for the beginner or seasoned stitcher to create a festive keepsake. Supplies provided.

Superior Medicare Advisors will offer Gift Wrapping between 2 & 4pm, in their office behind the Dietrich Theater.
Afternoon Wagon Rides that depart near Welch Insurance and Greenwood’s Furniture. Santa and Mrs Claus will greet visitors and be available for photos at the First National Bank Gazebo Saturday afternoon from 1- 3pm. Representatives of presenting sponsor Gannon Associates Insurance will be on hand with holiday treats for the kids.

Creekside Gardens is hosting an ornament painting workshop Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 4pm. Complementary homemade soup. More information is at their facebook page.
