TBPA hosts Santa Train rides

The Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association is pleased to announce that Santa Train rides will be returning again this Holiday season. The Reading and Northern Railroad is returning this year to provide Santa Train Rides on Saturday and Sunday, November 25th and 26th departing from Tunkhannock’s Riverside Park. Santa will be on board each train ride to visit with riders, especially children. Train rides are at 10:30am, 1pm and 3:30 pm each day.

“We are thrilled to be working with the railroad again for this event,” relates Nancy Parlo, TBPA director. “We have already received calls asking about the trains. Previously, the train rides were in always in demand. We had near sell-out on some of the rides last year and if the first response this year is any indication, we should have nice crowds. The rides have become a great part of our Christmas celebration. We urge people to get their tickets soon so they won’t be disappointed.”

Train tickets for November 25h and 26th are $20 for individuals 13 and older; $9 for children ages 3 to 12 and children age 2 and under are free, but need a ticket. For further ticket information call 570-831-9180. Advance ticket sales are strongly encouraged and available at Greenwood’s Furniture, 61 E. Tioga Street, Tunkhannock. Tickets are being sold on a first come, first serve basis; there will be no holds, mail orders, or refunds. Tickets can be purchased with cash or checks payable to TBPA. Trips will run rain or shine. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

Train riders are encouraged to arrive in town 45 minutes early and to not plan on parking at Riverside Park; parking there will be limited to Handicapped parking and patients for the chiropractor’s office. When riders purchase their tickets, they will receive a map of available parking areas throughout town. This year, the association is not able to offer shuttle rides as the bus companies are experiencing staffing shortages.

These train rides have become a great tradition in Tunkhannock and TBPA suggests that those interested get their tickets early to available missing the opportunity.
