Happenings Magazine highlights Tunkhannock's recovery from historic flooding

The February 2012 issue of Happenings Magazine calls Tunkhannock vibrant less than six months after the Susquehanna River flood water devastated the town leaving mud and debris in its wake. Sam Casterline of Bridge Street Marketplace, Bruce Arrowood of Seasons and Erica Rogler of the Dietrich Theater highlight the monumental task that confronted each owner of a business in the path of the water and debris. But they each also celebrate the sense of spirit and community displayed when countless numbers of volunteers helped with clean-up, enabling businesses to get back on their feet quickly. While the economic impact of the flood is still being felt, the silver lining is the deepened sense of appreciation for patrons coming out to support businesses.
